Isaiah Malcome enters his first season on the Columbia football coaching staff as its defensive assistant in 2023. Malcome is responsible for all defensive film, which includes the breakdown of opposing offenses, creating the “self-scout” of Columbia’s offensive tendencies, and daily data entry. He also assists with the weekly game plan.
 
A standout player for the Penn Quakers, Malcome joins the Columbia staff after playing at Penn from 2017-21. Following his career at Penn, Malcome played at Saginaw Valley State for the 2022 season where he averaged 63.4 rushing yards per game. Malcome played in the Tokyo Dream Bowl in January 2023 and was named the MVP for his performance.
 
Malcome graduated from Penn as the program’s all-time leader in yards per carry (6.2). He had a stellar senior season in 2021 that earned him Second Team All-Ivy honors. Malcome served as a captain and started all 10 games at running back in 2021 as he rushed for 719 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 201 yards and one touchdown as he registered a team-high seven total touchdowns. He ranked third in the Ivy League in all-purpose yards (987) in 2021. He also led the league’s running backs with 5.9 yards per carry.
 
Malcome is a 2022 graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. During his time in college, he held analyst positions with Goldman Sachs & Co., Soul Equity Solutions and Enhanced Capital.
 
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Malcome was a four-year letterwinner at the Westminster School. He was a part of the school’s 2015 Georgia 3A state championship and a member of the 2016 Georgia Region 5 championship team. He was also a two-time first-team All-State selection in 2014 and 2016. Malcome served as a team captain during his senior season.
