Jake Amsler

Jake Amsler joined Columbia’s staff in May 2023 as an offensive assistant. In this role, he is responsible for all offensive film responsibilities, which includes breakdown of opposing defenses, creating the “self-scout” of Columbia’s offensive tendencies and daily data entry. He also assists with the weekly game plan.

Amsler spent the 2022 season as a defensive quality control assistant at Lafayette, helping the Leopards finish in the top-25 in FCS in rush defense, red zone defense and scoring defense. He also assisted with kickoff return coverage, created scouting reports among other duties.

Prior to Lafayette, Amsler worked as a defensive backs coach at Alfred State College where he guided the top-scoring defense in conference play. He helped implement the defense, creating game plans, scripting practice and self-scouting. Amsler completed various other team duties such as video coordination, social media management, assistant strength coaching, equipment management and recruitment.

At his alma mater, Juniata College, Amsler spent three years as an undergraduate coaching intern. He oversaw defensive backs, defensive lines, linebackers, special teams and long snappers while being responsible for defensive film breakdown, scouting reports and assistance in creating game plans. Other duties included database management, charting plays, identifying personnel, contacting high school coaches and assisting the director of football operations with administrative duties.

Amsler also worked as a coaching volunteer at Central Bucks West High School from 2018 to 2022.

The Doylestown, Pennsylvania. native earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Juniata College in 2021, earning a social studies certification (7-12). He has playing experience as a safety and long snapper from the fall of 2017 to the spring of 2018.
