Former Columbia football player Mike DeFazio ‘06CC is in his second year as the Lions’ Director of Player Personnel. In his current role, DeFazio is in charge of the Lions' recruiting efforts while also assisting with other administrative duties.
DeFazio joined the Columbia Football program after serving the last 10 years as the Head Football Coach, Head Baseball Coach, Strength & Conditioning Coach and teacher at KIPP NYC College Prep in the South Bronx, N.Y. Over his 10 years at the school, DeFazio has guided the Bulldogs to a New York City Championship in both football and baseball.
A two-sport athlete and a seven-year letterman in both football and baseball at Columbia, DeFazio earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies in 2006. He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Columbia in 2009. DeFazio also earned a Master’s degree in English Language Education from the RELAY Graduate School of Education in 2013.
DeFazio is a native of Morristown, N.J. and a Delbarton School graduate.
