Tyler Henderson enters his first season at Columbia University as its Defensive Assistant and Defensive Quality Control Coach.
Henderson is responsible for all defensive film responsibilities, which includes breakdown of opposing offensives, creating the “self-scout” of Columbia’s offensive tendencies and daily data entry. He also assists with the weekly game plan.
Henderson joins the Columbia Football staff after spending the last two years as a Defensive Graduate Assistant with the Bowling Green State University football team. Among his many duties included film breakdown, recruitment of student-athletes, and working with athletes.
Prior to his tenure with the Falcons, Henderson worked as an intern with both the National Football League (2018-19) and Atlanta Falcons (2017-18), and served as defensive backs coach at IMG Academy for 11 months. At the NFL, Henderson assisted head of football development and NFL International Will Bryce as he helped him develop elite international football prospects while they prepared for NFL training camps. With the Atlanta Falcons, he took on a multitude of roles including the analysis of film, along with personnel reports and data collection, which resulted in their 2017 NFL Playoff run. At IMG Academy, Henderson coached three players who went on to play Power 5 NCAA Division I football, assisted with recruitment of student-athletes, taught technique, installed defenses, and game-planned for weekly opponents.
