Stephen Conway

Steve Conway joined the Columbia University Athletics Sports Performance staff in October 2022. He works with the Columbia football, baseball, and rowing programs.

Conway joined Columbia after most recently serving as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Iona College. During his time in New Rochelle, Conway designed, implemented, and oversaw the execution of strength and conditioning efforts for most of the college's NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s athletic teams. He also collaborated with head coaches and sports medicine personnel to manage athlete injuries and helped define “return-to-play” protocols.

Before his time at Iona, Conway was a Strength and Conditioning intern at Fordham University. He reported to and worked underneath the head strength coach and department staff for several of Fordham’s Division I athletic programs, including football, baseball, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, and softball in all aspects of strength and conditioning.

Conway is a NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), along with being certified in USAW Weightlifting Level I, CPR/AED, and
CACSS Mod.15/Concussion Management Athlete Training.

Conway also spent time as a high school varsity baseball and soccer coach in Newtown, Connecticut. Prior to working in strength and conditioning, Conway had a short stint in television at NBC News and ESPN before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conway earned a Bachelor of Media Communications degree from Stonehill College with a minor in Political Science and Journalism.
