Lightweight Rowing
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Dan Kirrane ’12CC joined the Columbia lightweight coaching staff in September 2014.
A 2012 graduate of Columbia, Kirrane was a three-year member of the lightweight rowing team and served as team captain as a senior.
"Dan fills a critical need on a team whose roster has almost doubled over the last three years to make sure we continue giving our athletes the individualized attention they need," Parker said.
Prior to returning to his alma mater, Kirrane spent two years training at the U.S. Rowing Training Center in Oklahoma City and is a two-time national team oarsmen. In 2012, Kirrane stroked the lightweight 4- to a seventh place finish at the Under 23 World Championship in Lithuania. Recently, Kirrane was a member of the 2014 Senior lightweight 8+ that placed fifth in Amsterdam.
Originally from Rockville Centre, New York, Kirrane started his rowing career at Chaminade High School.
"In the same way we spend a lot of time getting to know our prospects for who they are as people to make sure they will thrive and excel within the dynamics of our program, the athletics program and Columbia University, we also look for the same in potential coaches,” Parker continued. “With that in mind, I'm very excited to welcome Dan Kirrane back to the lightweight Lions as a member of the coaching staff.”
