2010-11: Scored points for Columbia at the 2011 ECAC Championships in four different events in his first year … part of the 400 medley relay team that finished third overall … qualified for the championship finals of the 200 breaststroke, coming in fourth overall with a time of 2:02.88 … part of the 200 medley relay team that finished sixth overall … qualified for the championship finals of the 100 breaststroke, finishing sixth in 56.98.
At Deerfield Academy: Earned eight varsity letters in swimming (4) and water polo (4) … helped lead Deerfield to two New England Prep School team championships … member of water polo team that won two New England Prep School team championships … NISCA All-American in the 200 medley relay and the 100 breaststroke in 2009 … also swam for the Bernal’s Gator Swim Club.
Personal: Son of Carolyn and William Wood … plans to major in economics … grandfather, George Welles, played hockey and baseball at Williams College … grandmother, Annie Welles, swam for Bouve/Tufts University in the 1950’s … aunt, Jennifer Welles, rowed for Harvard.
