Jon Rubenstein is in his fourth season as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Columbia Women's Basketball. He was hired in June of 2021.
Rubenstein is responsible for budget management, travel coordination, all team logistics, alumni relations, fundraising, student-athlete support, social media, community engagement, and various special projects. During his tenure with the Lions, Rubenstein has helped the Lions to three consecutive Ivy League Championships (2023, 2024, 2025). He also helped lead the Lions to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances (2024 & 2025), and the WNIT Championship game in 2023.
Before arriving in Morningside Heights, Rubenstein was an Elementary Educator at Success Academy Charter Schools, where he was a Lead Teacher focused on reading and writing instruction.
Prior to entering the classroom, Rubenstein worked at ESPN at the company’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, as a Digital Video / Social Associate. In his position, he produced, optimized and distributed ESPN’s digital video content on ESPN.com, the ESPN app and YouTube, while also helping to create original pieces for ESPN’s publications. His time as ESPN also saw him contribute as a sideline reporter.
Rubenstein got his start in college basketball as a Student Manager for the University of Michigan Men's Basketball team, and later became a walk-on for the Wolverines.
Rubenstein earned his Bachelor’s Degree with High Distinction from the University of Michigan in 2018, where he majored in Organizational Studies and minored in Writing.
