Tamara Sagadore begins her third year with the Columbia University training staff as an assistant athletic trainer. She works year-round with the Lions’ women’s basketball and men’s tennis programs.
Sagadore came to Columbia after serving the 2017-18 academic year as assistant athletic trainer at LIU-Brooklyn, where she worked directly with the Blackbirds’ men’s soccer and track and field teams. As part of her many duties, she provided medical coverage for all practices and matches/meets, implemented treatment, care and rehabilitation programs for injuries and provide instruction and mentorship to part-time athletic trainers. She was also responsible for managing all billing for insurance claims of athletic injuries for all student athletes.
From 2015-17, she worked as a graduate assistant trainer at Illinois State in Normal, Ill., where she provided comprehensive medical care and lead ACL prevention programing to the women's soccer. She also provided medical coverage for elite sport camps including baseball, softball and basketball. She has also gained athletic training experience while working as a clinical athletic therapist with Go T.O. Physio and Rehab and Trinity Rehabilitation Center, both in Toronto and Chicago Bulls College Prep High School in Chicago, Ill. She has also volunteered and worked a variety of events including the NYC Marathon, Pan Am Games, Canada Winter Games, Senior Pan Am Gymnastics Championships, Toronto Waterfront Marathon and with the Canada Women’s Soccer National Team.
A native Canadian from Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Sagadore earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from McGill University in Montreal in 2010. She also earned a bachelor of applied health science in athletic therapy degree from Sheridan College in Toronto in 2013 and went on to receive a Master’s degree in Athletic Trainer from Illinois State University in 2017.
She is board-certified for athletic training and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. She also holds Graston Technique M1 certification and presented original thesis research at the 2018 GLATA conference and 2018 NATA Convention in the graduate education section.
