Biography
Coach Weintraub on Murray:
Sydney
has a devastating inside-out forehand and backhand cross court. She can out-hit anyone and will fight for Columbia like no one
else. She’s added a variety and depth to
her game this year and will continue to be an asset to us in the singles
line-up.
Spring 2007: Defeated Pascaline Cette
of UMBC 4/6, 6/2, 7/5 at the three spot ... went 3-1 with doubles partner Lauren
Shearer and 2-1 with partner Nina Suda at #2 and #3 doubles ... sidelined part of
the Ivy League slate with an injury.
2006: Finished 13-6 overall in
singles and 2-3 in doubles ... had a strong showing at #2 in singles with a 5-1
record in non-conference action ... finished 4-3 in League play, at #3 and she
was 1-0 at #4.
Fall 2005: Jumped right into the
lineup for Columbia at No. 2 and No. 3 singles ... advanced to the final eight of
the Cissie Leary Inviational ...won her dual match debut, defeating Amanda
El-Tobgy at No. 2 singles.
At Sidwell Friends: Four-year
letterwinner at Sidwell Friends ... played No. 2 singles as a freshman and
sophomore, No. 1 as a junior and senior ... captain as a junior and senior ...
Metropolitan All-League sophomore, junior and senior year ... team MVP as a
junior and senior ... Sidwell Friends won the Independent School League
championship in 2002 and 2003.
