At Columbia: Took fifth place at the Keystone Classic at heavyweight…defeated Phillip Doerner (Stanford) 6-1 in dual meet…heralded scholastic All-American should bounce back after injuries forced him out of competition during 2005-06 ... coaches feel his style and strength are better suited to the upper weight class ... will be one of the most athletic heavyweights in the East ... 7-15 first-year record is deceiving -- lost six bouts by one-point margins ... dropped 3-2 decision to nationally-ranked Nat Moore of Purdue in Lone Star Duals, but bounced back to power Lions' victory over Eastern Michigan in the same tournament with 5-3 win over Tony Lyssiotis ... in dual meets, lost to wrestlers from Brown, 5-4, and East Stroudsburg, 2-1 in overtime ... had 5-2 win vs. Sacred Heart and pin vs. Harvard.

Wasilla High: Nine letters in wrestling (4), football (3), and soccer (2) ... captained wrestling twice, football, and soccer ... four-time Alaska state wrestling champion ... 36-6 as a first-year at 171 pounds; moved up to 189 and went 42-4 as a sophomore, 51-1 as a junior, and 41-0 as a senior ... 170-11 career ... won the Reno Tournament of Champions as a senior after finishing third as a junior ... selected for the prestigious Dapper Dan Classic in Pittsburgh in 2004; lost thriller by just 1-0 to Pennsylvania's Josh Haines, who was ranked second in the nation ... led Wasilla Warriors to 2004 state title ... ranked as high as second at 215 in the U.S. (Amateur Wrestling News), he ended the season ranked third by W.I.N. magazine and sixth by Intermat, both at 189 pounds ... Cadet Freestyle All-American in 2002, when he was sixth at the Cadet Nationals, and Asics All-American in 2003 ... also excelled on the football field, earning second team all-state honors as a defensive lineman in 2003 ... all-conference lineman and punter as a senior, all-conference middle linebacker as a junior ... also played running back ... received two other statewide honors when he was named Alaska's 2004 Male High School Athlete of the Year and won the Wendy's High School Heisman Award for the state ... 2004 Good Sport Award.
