Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Navy, Falls to Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - Columbia defeated Navy, 149-94, and fell to Princeton, 175-68, in a double dual at DeNunzio Pool. The victory over the Midshipmen was the Lions' eighth of the season, tying a school record with the 1988-89 squad.
The Lions' two overall winners were junior Tobin White in the 200 free (1:40.11) and the 400 free relay of first-years Hyun Lee and Steve Ko, senior Ben Neuwirth and White in 3:05.32, .19 seconds ahead of the second-place team from Princeton.
First-year Cedric Cheung-Lau defeated all comers from Navy in the 200 individual medley, 1000 free and 500 free, and finished second overall in the latter event in 4:36.76. Classmate Zach Glassman was just .58 seconds off the pace to finish second in the 200 breast in 2:06.84. Lee defeated all Navy swimmers in the 200 fly.
Columbia concludes its dual season 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League (EISL). Princeton improved to 8-3, 7-1 in the EISL and Navy fell to 10-5 and 3-5 in the EISL.
The Lions are back in action at the ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh Feb. 24-26. The following week, the Lions host the EISL Championships at Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. on March 2-4.
