Track and Field Competes in Lafayette-Rider Invitational and BU Valentine Meet

NEW YORK, N.Y. - While most of the Columbia track and field squad competed at the Lafayette-Rider Invitational at the NYC Armory, a small group of student- athletes competed in the Boston University Valentine meet.
At the Rider-Lafayette Invite, Elisse Douglas finished fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.25. Scott Simonovich ran an 8.67 to in the 60m hurdles to finish ninth.
In the mile run, Shelby Leland finished fifth with a time of 5:03.71. Anne Kennedy and Kari Higdem finished seventh and ninth respectively in times of 5:07.65 and 5:21.00.
On the men's side, Columbia took first, second and third with Gabriel Johnston winning the race in a time of 4:14.58. Ryan Hays and Brian Horneck finished second and third respectively in 4:17.69 and 4:17.76. In the 400m, the Lions took first and second.
Whitney Crayton won in a time of 56.74, while Erika Moses ran a 56.76. Ken Yearwood finished third in the 500m in 1:05.82. Sarah Decker finished second in the 800m iin 2:13.97. John Hiestand won the men's 800m in 1:53.35 and Kent Collins finished second in 1:53.39.
Zach Richard won the 1000m run in 2:26.15. At Boston University, Susan Hendrick finished fifth in a competitive field of mile. Hendrick ran 4:57.16. Daniella Padilla finished eighth in the 3000m in a time of 9:45.31, while Carmen Ballard finished 11th in 9:55. Lisa Stublic finished fifth in the 5000m in 16:52.79.
