Outdoor Track and Field Wraps up Rutgers Relays

Hoskins, Blasucci earn first-place finishes
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Columbia Track & Field delivered a strong showing at the Rutgers Relays, highlighted by event victories from Mia Hoskins (women's hammer throw) and Marcus Blasucci (men's shot put), along with multiple podium finishes.
Columbia's women squad finished fifth overall in the team standings with 54 points. On the men's side, Columbia finished 11th overall with 25 points.
Columbia's field group once again led the way. First-year Mia Hoskins captured first place in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 54.79m, adding 10 team points. On the men's side, first-year Marcus Blasucci secured first place in the shot put (16.49m) and also recorded a 37.82m throw in the discus.
First-year Anthony Colucci added a strong performance in the men's hammer throw, placing fifth overall with a mark of 51.92m. In the women's hammer, Lily Cregan placed 14th with a throw of 42.76m, followed by Eleanor DeHoog at 35.33m.
In the jumps, senior Zariyah Braxton recorded a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (11.76m), while sophomore Rafaela Drake placed 12th (11.04m). On the men's side, Joshua Yoon placed ninth in the long jump (6.91m).
On the track, Columbia's sprint group delivered a strong showing in the 100m, led by Sean O'Brien, who recorded a top-10 finish with a time of 12.11.
In the 100m hurdles, first-year Mignonne de Beer turned in a standout performance, finishing second overall with a personal-best time of 14.40.
The Lions continued their success in the 200m, where Josie Rempe placed third overall (24.88), followed by Kylie Castillo in fourth (24.92). O'Brien added an eighth-place finish (25.27).
On the men's side, senior Max Comfere placed fourth overall in the 200m with a time of 21.41 and later competed in the 400m, finishing 17th (50.16).
In the 400m hurdles, senior Kennedi Poullard placed fifth overall with a time of 1:04.99.
Columbia's middle-distance group added key results, as senior Austin Rios-Colon finished third overall in the 800m (1:53.93), while first-year Jackson Downin placed 10th (1:56.79).
On the women's side, Annie Killian led the group with a ninth-place finish in 2:14.78.
In the field events, Zuriel Padua-Serrano placed ninth in the javelin with a mark of 38.23m, while Ella Farley finished 15th (31.67m). Catalina Holliday added a 12th-place finish in the women's shot put with a throw of 11.12m.
The Lions capped the meet with a strong relay performance, as the 4x100m team of O'Connor, O'Brien, Rempe and Castillo placed second overall with a time of 47.53, adding eight team points.
The women's 4x400m 'A' team of Annie Killian, Kate Price, Naomi Toft, and Reena Hsieh placed fourth overall in 4:07.61 to add five team points. Columbia added to its total in the event with the 'B' team of Kaylee Bennett, Mia McIlwain, Roya Amirhamzeh, and Kaila O'Connor, which finished sixth overall in 4:10.46, contributing three additional points.

Columbia returns to action next weekend with a three-meet slate, beginning with the Wake Forest Invitational (Apr. 16-17) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Lions will also send competitors to the Virginia Challenge on April 17 in Charlottesville, Virginia, before closing the weekend at the Mark Young Invitational on April 18 in New Haven, Connecticut.
