NEW YORK, N.Y. – After opening up the season at home, the Lions will travel to two tournaments and take on local rivals before the start of the 2006-07 Ivy League season.
Columbia will face Loyola (Md.) in the first game of the season on it's own turf. After a trip to Delaware State, the Lions will return to their home court to take on Bucknell. Later that week, the team will play in its first tournament of the season, the St. Bonaventure Shootout in Elmira, N.Y. The Lions will take on the hosting Bonnies in the first round and in the second round will face either city-rival Manhattan or Buffalo in the all New York field.
At the end of November, Columbia will host both Harford and Sacred Heart before playing two more New York teams on the road: St. Francis (N.Y.) and Army. The Lions will then play its fifth New York based team, hosting Wagner on December 14th.
Columbia will then take its longest trip of the season, traveling to Honolulu to participate in the Hawai'i Invitational. The Lions take on Oklahoma State in the first round and will then face either the host school or San Francisco in the second round.
After New Year's, Columbia will face Central Connecticut State before the kick-off of the Ivy League season. The Lions take on Princeton and Penn in the opening weekend on the road, which will be followed by Cornell at home the next weekend. Both the men and women's basketball teams will face the Big Red that day in the only home doubleheader of the season.
The Lions face their last non-conference opponent when they travel to Easton, Pa. to take on Lafayette. Columbia will then continue on with the rest of the Ivy League season, having a four-game home stand in February with Penn, Princeton, Brown and Yale.
