NEW YORK -- The Columbia University men's soccer team will play host to Princeton on Saturday evening in a battle of Ivy League opponents at Columbia Soccer Stadium. The Lions enter with a 1-1 league mark (3-7-1 overall) while the Tigers have a 0-1-1 record in Ivy League play and are 3-8-1.
Goal Scoring Machine
Sophomore forward Bayo Adafin has established himself this season as Columbia's best threat to find the back of the net. Adafin has half of the team's total goals this year (five) and is tied for third in the Ivy League in the category.
Slaying Goliaths
The Lions have three victories on the year, with two of them coming against ranked opponents. Columbia defeated then-No. 6 UC Santa Barbara, 3-1, on Sept. 14 then dropped No. 19 Penn on the road, 2-1, last weekend. The team also had a near result against Brown, dropping a close 2-1 decision. The Bears were ranked No. 24 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Scouting the Opponent
Princeton is coming off a 3-0 victory over in-state rival Rutgers on Wednesday. The win was the second for the Tigers against BIG EAST opposition, as the team defeated Seton Hall earlier this year. All three of Princeton's wins have come against New Jersey schools, with its third triumph coming at Fairleigh Dickinson. Sophomore midfielder Brandon Busch leads the team with four goals and 11 points on the year.
