
Three Lions Earn All-Ivy League Honors

McDaid brothers, Yahalom represent Columbia on All-Ivy Teams
NEW YORK — Columbia men's soccer junior Jack McDaid (Havertown, Pa./The Shipley School / Maryland) was voted Second Team All-Ivy League, while both junior Joe McDaid and first year Amir Yahalom earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy League. The Ivy League announced its postseason honors and awards, as voted on by the eight head coaches, on Wednesday afternoon.
Jack McDaid picked up Second Team All-Ivy status for the second year in a row. The junior midfielder scored three times in a four-match stretch from September 15-28. Following a two-goal week against FDU and Hofstra, McDaid earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors. It was the first time a Lion had been named a player of the week for an offensive performance since John Denis in 2019. He finished the year with three goals, two assists, eight points, 11 shots on goal, and a shots on goal percentage of 61.1 percent.
Joe McDaid played and started 14 games this season as a staple on Columbia's back line. He ranked first on the team with 1,244 total minutes played and had three assists, including helpers in a 2-2 draw against Penn and a 5-1 victory over Fordham. Additionally, McDaid earned an Academic All-Ivy League selection. Each of the Ancient Eight's programs is represented by one student-athlete. McDaid is studying economics at Columbia College.
First year Amir Yahalom was also named Honorable Mention All-Ivy League after a solid rookie campaign. The Brookline, Massachusetts, native played in all 15 contests and started eight straight from September 28 – November 1. Yahalom totaled 817 minutes of game action and tallied two assists. Both of those assists came in Ivy League play, including an assist as part of a 3-1 victory over Harvard on October 25.
