NEW YORK – In the last day of play at the 2009 USTA Collegiate Invitational at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., first-year
Nicole Bartnik took the championship title in the 'A' singles bracket.
Bartnik, who beat players from Fairleigh Dickinson, Harvard and Rutgers on her way to the final, did not drop a set in her first three matches. In the final, pitted against Sandhya Nagaraj from N.C. State, Bartnik was able to rally back from losing the first set 6-0, to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-0, and take her first collegiate title.
Up next, Bartnik and her teammates will prepare for a scrimmage against Rutgers, Tuesday, October 20th, before they head to Yale, to take part in the ITA Regional Championships, Friday, October 23rd.
