National awards will be announced on June 13

NEW YORK – Columbia women's tennis first-year player Malak El Allami has been named the ITA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday.

Each year, the ITA recognizes coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities throughout the season.

Earlier this spring, El Allami earned All-Ivy First Team honors in doubles. The native of Casablanca, Morocco, had a stellar campaign in 2024-25, going 20-11 in singles play and 18-7 in doubles.

Playing primarily in the top singles spot, she went 7-5 in singles play but finished the year 4-1 in Ivy League action.

El Allami is eligible for the national award, which will be announced on Friday, June 13.
