NEW YORK – Two women's tennis players wrapped up play at the Riviera/ITA All-American tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif. First-year
Nicole Bartnik and junior
Natasha Makarova were entered in the pre-qualifying singles and doubles brackets in the annual tournament.
In prequalifying singles, Bartnik fell to Yeveniya Stupak of Eastern Tennessee State, 6-2, 6-4, in a rematch of last week's Cissie Leary final.
“Bartnik played a closer tougher match against Stupak,” head coach
Ilene Weintraub said. “[Stupak] was more talented than most of the players in the pre-qualifying draw.”
In the doubles draw, Bartnik and Makarova fell in the first round of the bracket, as they lost to McFarlane and Suess of Florida State, in a close 8-6 match.
Up next, members of the women's tennis team will head to Flushing Meadows, N.Y., to take part in the National Tennis Center Invitational, October 10-12.
