NEW YORK -- Columbia junior men's soccer standout Bayo Adafin has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I second team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. For Adafin, it is the first time in his career that he has earned academic all-district honors.
Adafin has been a force up top since he began his career at Columbia, and has established himself as one of the top goal scorers in the Ivy League. A second team All-Ivy League selection a season ago, Adafin ranks near the top of the Ivy League again this year with five goals, including a pair against conference competitors.
Against nationally-ranked Brown earlier this year, Adafin helped the Lions overcome being a man down for much of the match, and scored the game-tying goal in the second half to force overtime. The junior forward also came up big against #15 Dartmouth, tallying the game-winning goal and assisting on another in a 2-0 road win. The economics major currently maintains a 3.38 GPA.
Columbia returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as it travels to Adelphi for its final non-conference match of the year. The Lions will play their final home contest of the season on Saturday, Nov. 7 against Harvard at 4 p.m.
