
Men's Soccer Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule With Match at Adelphi on Tuesday

NEW YORK -- The Columbia University men's soccer team will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 3 as it takes on Adelphi in Garden City, N.Y., at 7 p.m. The Lions will round out their Ivy League season in the next two weeks with contests against Harvard (Nov. 7) and at Cornell (Nov. 14).
LAST TIME OUT
Senior James Prince gave the Columbia University men's soccer team an early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute against Yale, but the Bulldogs would come back with a pair of goals in a span of 3:22 in the first half to take a 2-1 victory at a rainy Columbia Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening.
LAST YEAR VS. ADELPHI
The Lions dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Adelphi at Columbia Soccer Stadium. Ryan Scully scored his first goal of the season to give Columbia a 1-0 lead in the second half, but the Panthers came back with a goal to tie the game and one in the 92nd minute to give the team its eighth straight win.
SERIES HISTORY
Columbia leads the overall history, 15-8-6, and is 6-3-4 away from Columbia Soccer Stadium. The Lions won the first seven games of the series (1980-86) and the series includes four consecutive ties to begin the 1990s (1990-93).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Adelphi has won two straight and enters Tuesday's tilt with a 10-2-4 record. The Panthers have registered ties against both Yale and Princeton, while they dropped a 2-0 decision to Brown in mid-September. Offensively, the team is led by freshman phenom Issa Tall, who ranks among the nation's top goal scorers with 13 in 15 games. Thorne Holder has seen action in 13 contests between the pipes for the Panthers, recording five shutouts en route to a 8-1-3 record.
