NEW YORK - The Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) unveiled its Spring 2009 list of Scholar-Athlete Teams this July, and the Columbia men's swimming & diving team was at the top of the list.
In all, 347 teams representing 238 colleges and universities earned the distinction based on a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Lions came in fifth in the nation, with a team GPA of 3.36, and were second among Ivy League schools, just behind Dartmouth.
"This is a nice and well deserved honor for our team,” men's swimming head coach Jim Bolster said. “Our kids work hard in the classroom and the pool, and this recognition is great reward for their efforts. We talk about being good students and good swimmers; I guess we know they listen well too!"
The complete list of teams can be found here.
