PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior right-handed pitcher Dan Bracey is the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Bracey posted his second straight sensational outing, going the distance in a four-hitter to lead Columbia to a 7-0 win over Brown on Sunday, which was Columbia's third straight Ivy League victory to open the season.
The Rhode Island native was masterful through seven innings, throwing just 88 pitches. He did not allow an extra-base hit or a walk and struck out six batters in the complete game start. In his past two starts, both complete games, Bracey has allowed just one run on nine hits in 14.0 innings. He has not walked a batter in the past two outings and has struck out 16.
Sophomore Jon Eisen earned a spot on the Ivy League's weekly honor roll after serving as the team's catalyst during a 4-1 week for the Lions. The Tennessee native was all over the base paths, hitting safely in all five of Columbia's games.
Eisen batted .471 and carried a .526 on-base percentage during the week, scoring six runs and driving in a pair from the leadoff spot in the batting order. The switch-hitter was equally adept at either side of the plate, going 5-for-12 from the left side and 3-for-5 as a right-handed hitter. He batted .625 when leading off an inning and had two multiple-hit games during the Ivy League opening weekend. Eisen also added a double and a triple as he slugged at a .647 clip to post an OPS of 1.173.
Columbia is back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7 as the Lions wil take on Rutgers in the final game of a ten-game homestand. First pitch at Robertson Field will be at 3:30 p.m.
