Fellows, Kail, Santana comprise the leadership group after a team vote
NEW YORK — After a team vote, Columbia baseball seniors Cole Fellows, Jack Kail and Thomas Santana have been selected the program's captains for the 2026 season.
Fellows is coming off a season where he hit .326 with five homers and 39 RBI on his way to earning unanimous first team All-Ivy League honors in 2025. He also earned the Blair Bat after leading the league in batting average (.419) in conference games only. An outfielder from Clovis, California, has been a key contributor to the program the past three seasons, earning Ivy League Player of the Week honors twice and being named captain of the Lou Gehrig Community Impact Team in 2024.
Kail started 49 games at second base for the Lions and earned a unanimous spot on the All-Ivy League first team. He hit .312 with 14 doubles, seven homers and 45 RBI. Kail, who hails from McMurray, Pennsylvania, has seen action in 112 career games over the past three seasons and is a career .284 hitter with 12 homers and 90 RBI.
Santana has earned All-Ivy League honors the past two seasons and was a weekend starter for the Lions in 2024 and 2025. The right-hander from Millburn, New Jersey, boasts an 11-5 career record with 116 strikeouts over 127.1 innings pitched.
The Lions are the two-time defending Ivy League Champions and are coming off a 30-19 campaign where they won their first Ivy League Tournament and secured its seventh NCAA Tournament berth since 2008.
