Cambridge, Mass. - The Columbia men's swimming & diving team fell to reigning Ivy League Champions Harvard on Friday, Nov. 21 in Blodgett Pool, as the Crimson topped the Lions, 88-207. Despite the loss, Columbia saw top performances from Jayden Pantel and David Jakl.
First-year Jayden Pantel impressively took home the crown in the 3-meter dive to remain unbeaten this season. Pantel tallied a winning score of 349.13 points to lead Columbia on the boards. Rembrandt followed with a third-place tally of 323.25 points in the 3-meter dive. Pantel returned in the 1-meter dive to garner his first runner-up finish with a score of 302.10 points.
In a close touch finish, Jakl was edged by .01 seconds in the 200 butterfly. Jakl clocked in with runner-up a time of 1:48.91 for the Lions best finish in the pool on the day.
The Lions also posted times in its first 200 free relay of the season. The foursome of Jakl, Stanley Wong, Kevin Frifeldt and Alex Ngan combined to lead all Columbia squads with a time of 1:23.47.
Up next, Columbia will gear for the three-day Brown Invitational on Friday, Dec. 5 – Sunday, Dec. 7 in Providence, Rhode Island.
