NEW YORK - Former volunteer assistant coach and current Acting Head Coach of Columbia Women's Golf, Amy Weeks, has been named Head Women's Golf Coach after a national search, Athletics Director Dr. M. Dianne Murphy announced today.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Amy's playing, coaching and administrative experience lead our women's golf program,” Murphy said. “She has coached teams to conference titles, as well as to a prominent finish at the NCAA Championship. We are confident that she is the right person to take our women's golf program to the next level.”
Before coming to Columbia in 2011, Weeks served as Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Oklahoma State for seven years. In that role, she oversaw the Cowgirls' soccer, softball, women's track & field and women's cross country teams and assisted with OSU's athletic marketing and promotional directives.
Prior to her work as an athletics administrator, Weeks was Oklahoma State's head women's golf coach from 2000-04. During that span, she directed the Cowgirls to 10 tournament titles, six runner-up finishes and four individual tournament titles. She led Oklahoma State to three straight Big 12 Conference Championship titles (2001, 2002, 2003) and one second-place finish in 2004. Weeks led Oklahoma State to the NCAA Championships in each of her four seasons. The Cowgirls' second-place finish at the 2004 NCAA Championships was their best team showing in program history.
From 1997-2000, Weeks was Oklahoma State's assistant women's golf coach. She served as recruiting coordinator and practice coordinator in addition to her coaching duties.
As a player in the mid 1990s, Weeks was a dominant figure for the Oklahoma State women's golf program. She won the 1995 Big Eight individual championship and was a member of three Big Eight championship teams. Weeks also excelled as student, earning Academic All-Big Eight honors from 1994-96 and Academic All-Big 12 first team accolades in 1997. She also was named to the NGCA All-Scholar team in 1995.
