Top five teams advance to the NCAA Championship, May 22-27
NEW YORK — The Columbia Lions will compete at the NCAA Women's Golf Ann Arbor Regional from Monday through Wednesday, May 11-13, at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The field features 12 NCAA-selected teams and six individuals battling in a 54-hole format with 18 holes played each day. The course is set up as a par 71 and will play at 6,260 yards.
This is Columbia's first appearance at an NCAA Regional since its first and only other qualification in 2007. This year's team earned its bid by winning the Ivy League Championship at Baltusrol. The Lions are the Ann Arbor Regional's No. 10 seed.
The 12 teams competing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, include the top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 2 Southern California Trojans. No. 2 seed Duke, No. 3 seed Central Florida and No. 4 seed Oklahoma are all ranked in the top 25. The remaining seeds are No. 5 Ohio State, defending national champion and sixth-seeded Northwestern, No. 7-seeded Kansas, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 UNLV, No. 10 Columbia, No. 11 Quinnipiac and No. 12 Oakland.
For the first time ever, every NCAA Women's Golf Regional will be livestreamed thanks to BabyGrande Golf, giving fans access to all six regional sites, including coverage from the U-M Golf Course. Columbia's lineup for regionals features unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection, first year Kristina Xu, a pair of Ivy League All-Championship Team honorees in sophomores Sarah Shao and Christine Chang, and two more first years in Emily Zeng and Camille Thai. First year Bridget Chantharath is Columbia's substitute, which head coach Amy Weeks can use during any of the three rounds.
Head coach Amy Weeks and assistant coach Katie Rudolph, who were named the Ivy League Women's Golf Coaching Staff of the Year, will lead the Lions to the NCAA Regional. The coaching pair guided Columbia to its first Ivy League Championship in nearly two decades, taking the crown at Baltusrol Golf Club (April 24-26). It was the icing on top of a record 2025-26 season in which Columbia won two of its nine events, finished runner-up twice and earned a record six top-three team finishes.
Xu leads the team in scoring this season. The rookie from Claremont, California, boasted a team-leading 73.44 stroke average, which currently stands as the program's new single-season record. Xu won two events, including her collegiate debut in the Battle at the Creek (Sept. 15-16). She was co-medalist three weeks later at the Princeton Invitational (Oct. 4-5) with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 211.
Columbia is also bolstered by a pair of Second Team All-Ivy League selections in Shao (74.96) and Zeng (75.20), who were second and third on the team in stroke average. Shao had two top-five, four top-10 and six top-25 finishes. Zeng came on in the spring with an individual victory at the More Than Golf Invitational (Mar. 1-3), leading the Lions to their first tournament championship since 2016.
Five Lions earned top-10 finishes at the Ivy League Championship. Shao and sophomore Christine Chang placed in the top five and were named to the All-Championship Team. Chang is fourth on the team in stroke average (75.48), followed by first year Bridget Chantharath (75.81) and first year Camille Thai (76.38).
The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 22-27, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Championship play will be hosted by Texas, with the final three days of the championships televised live by the GOLF Channel.
