
Men's Swimming & Diving Gets Win At Brown, 166-134

Providence, R.I. – Make it three –straight wins for the Columbia men's swimming & diving team, as they emerged victorious over Brown, 166-134, in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Lions improve to 3-4 overall in dual-meet action and 2-3 in the Ivy League.
Jae Park led all performers with three crowns at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Park clocked in with a top-time of 56.40 in the 100 breastroke and 2:02.73 in the 200 breaststroke, capping the meet with a 200 I.M. win at 1:51.63.
Once again, Jayden Pantel dominated the boards for the Lions owning both the 3m and 1m dives. Pantel tallied a first-place score of 383.63 in the three-meter dive for his19th-straight win in the event and to remain unbeaten in dual-meet action dating back to his undefeated rookie 2014-15 season. The sophomore also earned his sixth-straight one-meter victory at 333.76 to remain unblemished in the event this season.
Columbia won five-consecutive events to start the day, beginning with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The squad of Omar Arafa, Forrest Davis, Kevin Frifeldt and Codi Saunders combine for a winning time of 1:32.36.
Brian Tsau grabbed his third win of the year in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:23.32. As the top distance performer of the meet, he also won the 500 freestyle at 4:32.22. Nikita Bondarenko followed with a victory in the 200 freestyle at 1:40.95, edging teammate Michal Zyla with the runner-up finish at 1:40.99. Zyla returned to grab a win in the 200 backstroke at 1:49.30.
Omar Arafa collected first-place points in the 100 backstroke with a strong 50.61 finish, while Terry Li and Codi Saunders posted a 1-2 punch in the 100 freestyle. Li lead the way at 46.30 and Saunders in second-place at 46.42.
Up next, Columbia (3-4, 2-3 Ivy League) will travel to Navy on Friday, Jan. 29 for a 2 p.m. meet.
