NEW YORK—Columbia Athletics invites all alumni, friends and family members to campus this weekend as Columbia University will host its annual 2016 Homecoming weekend.
“Homecoming weekend is a celebration event for our great university and athletics program,” Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Physical Education Peter Pilling said. “It's a great time for all of our students, student-athletes, alumni, family members and fans to come out, show your Columbia support and enjoy all of the planned events this weekend.”
Highlighted by the annual Homecoming Football game, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday against Dartmouth, a total of four Columbia teams will host outdoor athletics events this weekend at the Baker Athletics Complex. The Columbia field hockey team starts the weekend off by hosting Dartmouth on Friday at 5 p.m. and the women's and men's soccer teams will play Dartmouth in a post-football Saturday doubleheader with kickoffs at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively at refurbished Rocco Commisso Stadium.
In addition to the athletic events, Columbia University has planned a variety of alumni and fan-friendly events. The Columbia College Alumni Association will sponsor its annual Lunch Under the Big Tent and Homecoming Carnival Saturday prior to the football game beginning at 11 a.m. The athletics department will honor its 2016 Hall of Fame Class at its annual black-tie Athletics Hall of Fame dinner Thursday night beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Low Memorial Library. Columbia Athletics is also sponsoring a Night Before Homecoming Young Alumni Party on Friday from 9-11 p.m. at Ainsworth Park Restaurant.
On Friday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 p.m., students and fans of all ages are invited to attend a Pep Rally for the Columbia Football Team as it prepares for Saturday's game with a walk-through on the South Lawn.
