HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Lizzie Adams scored two goals over a 1:31 span in the fourth quarter to give Columbia field hockey a 2-1 win at Hofstra from Cindy Lewis Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Adams scored twice for a second straight game and for her fourth career multi-goal game. The junior has seven goals on the year. Columbia (8-4, 3-2) has secured a winning regular season record for the first time since 2017.
After 52 minutes of scoreless play, Adams broke the ice when she poked in a loose ball near the cage with 7:56 to go in the fourth quarter. She doubled the Columbia lead 1:31 later when a centering pass from Sophie Lawrence was hit into the back of the cage to make it 2-0.
Hofstra's first and lone shot on goal of the day went in with 1:46 left to cut the Lions lead in half. Gwen Van Dijik was credited with the goal. The Pride (2-12, 0-4) pulled goalkeeper Madison Geiger but couldn't find the equalizer in the closing minute.
