Outdoor Season Beings Thursday for Track & Field

NEW YORK – A pair of outdoor meets are on deck this week for the Columbia track & field teams, as the Lions will head to the Stony Brook Quad on Thursday before a few other members of the team will participate in Friday's Raleigh Relays.
Columbia will square off with La Salle, Providence and the hosts at the Stony Brook Quad.
With the outdoor season starting, one of the top performers in school history will return to the 400m hurdles. Corey Hammond will take part in his best event, as the senior holds the third best time in the event in school history at 52.84.
Along with the 400m hurdles, Hammond will also run in the 200m dash, beside five others on the men's team. Bryan Browne, Yelnats Calvin, and Declan Starrett are three of those individuals, as that trio will also run in the 100m dash.
The women's team will enter six runners in the 200m dash, including Shalon Conley and Aminat Iriafen, who hold career outdoor bests of 25.55 and 25.68, respectively.
Friday's Raleigh Relays will feature more distance runners on both sides. For the men' Jack Boyle and Tait Rutherford will take part in the 10K run. The women will see Pegah Khosravi-Kamrani and Samantha Siler run in the 10K, while Henna Rustami and Natalie Tanner are entered in the 5K.
