
Archery Opens Outdoor Season At AAE Arizona Cup

PHOENIX – The Columbia archery team kicked-off its 2016 outdoor season in familiar fashion last weekend, competing in the collegiate division of the five-day AAE Arizona Cup from Thursday, April 7 – Monday, April 11.
Four Lions took their aim in the recurve division, with rookie Bianca Gotuaco leading the way with an eighth-place overall score of 580. Jenny Han posted a 10th-place finish of 552, followed by Joy Chang in 11th place with a total of 527. Tiffany Kim rounded out the Lions finishes with a score of 439 for 18th-best overall.
Senior Julie Hoffmann lead the Lions in the compound with a top Columbia finish of sixth place with a score of 639. Trailing by just a few points was teammate Elizabeth Gunawan in seventh place with a total tally of 634. Judy Zhou also surpassed the 600 mark on the weekend with a ninth-place score of 618, followed by Katherine Alfaro in the 11th place at 572 and Alexis Heller in 12th place at 524.
Up next, Columbia will trek to Maanchester, Connecticut on Saturday, April 16 to compete in the New England Collegiate Archery Tournament.
