All 12 Lions will shoot at the Harrisonburg regional site
NEW YORK — Columbia will compete at the 57th USA Archery Indoor Nationals this weekend. The Lions will shoot at the Penn Laird, Virginia, regional site, Saturday-Sunday. The regional is being hosted by James Madison University at the Rockingham Recreation Center.
All 12 Lions will compete in the event, seven in recurve and five in compound. Representing Columbia in the recurve will be senior Lillian Han, juniors Michelle Ahn, Eunice Choi and Emily Rosenfeld, sophomores Alena Lipscomb and Mia Shin, and first year Isabella Kim. Shooting in the compound are seniors Giselle DeSousa and Sydney Sullenberger, sophomore Briana Moore, and first years Leoncia White and Cheryl Wong.
Each Lion will shoot a round of 60 arrows on Saturday, followed by another round of 60 arrows on Sunday. The scores of Columbia's top two archers in compound and recurve will be combined to create a team score. The individual scores will count in both the age group of each shooter, as well as the collegiate division.
The scores from the Penn Laird, Virginia regional site will be compared to the scores from all other regional sites to determine each shooter's and each team's placing. Final results will not be available until written records are compared to electronic scoring for clarification.
Last year, Eunice Choi won the 56th USA Archery Indoor National Championship in Women's Collegiate Recurve. Additionally, the Lions took the silver medal in team recurve and bronze in team compound.
Columbia will shoot at 12 noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Fans who want to keep up with Columbia's progress can follow live scoring courtesy of Between Ends.
