PRINCETON, N.J. – First-year Louisa Hollander took Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after an impressive debut weekend for the Columbia field hockey team. The Amsterdam, Netherlands, native scored in each of her first collegiate contests and helped the Lions earn a road split.
Hollander's first career tally came off a penalty corner in the 70th minute at UMass Friday. She struck again in the 44th minute in a 5-2 victory over Holy Cross Sunday. Hollander is the first Columbia player to earn the award since Katie Ruesterholz accomplished the feat in October 2013.
Ruesterholz also was selected to the weekly Honor Roll after posting a hat trick against the Crusaders and adding an assist against the Minutewomen in the season opener Friday.
The Lions will remain on the road next weekend, paying a visit to Michigan State on Friday, September 9. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
