South Orange, N.J. – On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Columbia women's swimming & diving team was sensational in their final road meet of the season taking down Seton Hall 175-117. The opening victory went to the Lions as the 400 medley relay squad of Susie Zhu, Helen Wojdylo, Eva Crouse and Allyssa Phelps combined for a top-time of 3:56.51. Maureen Rakovec followed with a win in the 1000 freestyle at 10:25.68, along with a 1-2 punch in the 200 freestyle by Helen Wojdylo (1:54.25) and Kasia Malendowicz (1:55.90).
Mary Ashby led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 backstroke with a first-place time of 57.17, with Emily Wang (57.85) and Kathleen O'Rourke (59.45). The 100 breaststroke went to Julia Samson hitting the wall in 1:05.81 and Clare MacNamara (2:09.53) edged teammate Jamie Lee (2:10.08) for the win in the 200 butterfly.
Columbia owned the 50 freestyle with Susie Zhu taking first in 24.20, followed by Jessica Antiles (24.53) and Jessica He (25.02). Emily Wang was the 100 freestyle winner in 52.85, Jessica He added a victory in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.87 and Malendowicz returned for the 500 freestyle crown in 5:03.96.
Nicole Papsco posted the top time in the 400 I.M. at 4:31.12, along with the 200 freestyle relay squad of Ashby, Jordan Ashmore, Antiles and Malendowicz at 1:37.38.
Brooke Bernardin swept the boards with 275 pts. in the 3M dive and 275.95 pts. in the 1M dive. Seanna Barret also placed runner-up in both of events with scores of 254.10 (3M) and 262.35 (1M).
Up next, Columbia (7-2, 3-2 Ivy) will host Dartmouth on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. in their home finale.
