First-Year Alexis Florio Finishes 10th at Lady Blue Hen Invite

Florio registers highest finish of her young career as she places 10th with an 11-over-par 74-76-74-224; moves up 16 spots after final round on Sunday; Columbia finishes in 11th place.
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.—First-year Alexis Florio registered the highest finish of her young career as she placed 10th with an 11-over-par 74-76-74-224 Sunday at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Florio led the Columbia women's golf team at the two-day, three-round invitational, which concluded Sunday at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club. As a team, Columbia finished in 11th place at 79-over-par 307-298-326-921. Complete final results are available at GolfStat.com.
Florio entered Sunday's final round in 25th place and moved up 16 places into 10th place with a 74. She carded three birdies and nine pars in the final round. On Saturday, Florio carded four pars including three in the first round while shooting a 74. She also excelled in the first round's back nine, finishing with a birdie and seven pars. Combining the entire weekend, Florio led the field in par-3 scoring (2.93) and ranked eighth with seven pars and finished 12th in the field with a team-high 33 pars.
Senior Amy Ding ranked second among Columbia golfers and finished in 39th place at 22-over-par 73-76-86-235. She registered a 73 in Saturday's first round while shooting one birdie and 14 pars. She followed that up with a 76 in the second round which saw her register three birdies. Her three birdies came on the front nine on holes 4, 7 and 9.
First-year Jennifer Wang carded a 25-over-par 82-71-85-238 to finish in 46th place. While shooting a career-low 71 in Saturday's second round, Wang hit three birdies and 11 pars. On the front 9, she hit back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2 and followed those up with a birdie on 6.
First-year Marlene Tartaro placed 58th with a 32-over-par 82-82-81-245. Junior Emily Chu rounded out Columbia's golfers in 71st place. After carding a 78-75-153, she did not compete on Sunday. Chu carded 24 pars in her two rounds of play.
Seton Hall's Elizabeth Win won the individual title with a three-over-par 69-74-73-216. She led Seton Hall to the team title, which won by three strokes over host Delaware.
The Rehoboth Beach Country Club is a par-71, 5,932-yard course.
The event concludes fall play for the Columbia women's golf team. Columbia opens spring play at the Florida Atlantic Winter Warmup on Feb. 17-18 in Boca Raton, Fla.
