NEW YORK – The Columbia men's soccer team will square off against Yale this Saturday in New Haven, Connecticut at 1:00 p.m. live on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Last Tuesday, Columbia faced off against Rutgers in Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium and managed to come away with a 2-1 victory. First half goals from junior midfielder
Matthew Swain and senior forward
Kynan Rocks paced the Lions, while goalkeeper
Dylan Castanheira contributed with four saves, only allowed one goal in the first half, and no goals against in the second.
Both Columbia goals were assisted showing great teamwork from the Columbia front line with Swain,
Nike Azuma, and
Beto Carrillo all recording assists during the game. Sophomore
Nick Marcin picked up his first career start in the midfield, while a total of 20 Lions played in the match.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Yale comes into this contest holding a 6-4-3 record and a 1-1-2 record in the Ivy League. They are unbeaten in their last three matches, with wins against Army and Cornell, and a draw with Penn.
First-year Paolo Carroll leads the team in goals with four, followed by Nicky Downs, Kyle Kenagy, and Aldo Quevedo with three. As a team, Yale is second in the Ivy League in scoring, helped out by Downs and Carroll, who are second in the league with four assists each.

Columbia and Yale have gone back and forth in their history holding a record of 29-31-8 overall. A year ago during a driving rainstorm,

Beto Carrillo, who scored the game-winner at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. Saturday's home team looks to buck a trend, as Columbia has been unbeaten in their last eight games against Yale.
IVY LEAGUE STANDINGS
Columbia currently stands at a tie for second in the Ivy League with Cornell with nine points. The league leader Princeton holds 10 points and is unbeaten in Ivy league play holding a record of 3-0-1. Yale is sitting in a tie for fourth place with Dartmouth with five points.
