He, Rosendahl Highlight Day Three at Rutgers Invite

Sophomore Jessica He won the 200 free and first-year Brigit Rosendahl posted a victory on 3-meter on Friday evening at the Rutgers Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Sophomore Jessica He won the 200-yard freestyle and first-year Brigit Rosendahl claimed the 3-meter crown as Columbia women's swimming and diving completed its third day at the Rutgers Invitational on Friday evening at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.

"We had another good day at Rutgers," said Columbia head coach Diana Caskey. "Many fast swims, great team energy and good strategic racing lessons learned. We are excited for the final day of competition Saturday."

Dropping more than 2.5 seconds from her morning prelims time, He picked up Columbia's first victory of the meet, winning the 200 free title in a season-best 1:48.56.

Rosendahl earned her fifth victory of the season as she stole the top spot on 3-meter with a 283.80, narrowly edging Rutgers' Lauren Boone who turned in a 283.25. Fellow first-year Michelle Lee was fifth in 254.55.

"A great showing for the divers," said diving coach Scott Donie. "It was a good opportunity to compete in a prelims and finals format."

The Lions got out to a great start on Friday night, posting a 2-3-4 finish in the 400 individual medley. First-year Mary Pruden led the charge with a runner-up result, posting a time of 4:19.21. Senior Jessica Antiles followed in 4:24.78 ahead of first-year Madison Leblanc (4:34.50).

In the 100 butterfly, sophomore Emily Wang was the Lions' top finisher, posting a fifth-place time of 55.66. Susie Zhu also posted a season-best time to place eighth in 56.46.

Junior Helen Wojdylo continued her strong performances at the meet, finishing second in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:01.61. First-year Yani Le was the fourth-place finisher, coming into the wall in 1:04.72.

For the final individual event of the night, junior Julia Samson took fifth in the 100 backstroke (55.21) for Columbia's top finish in the event. Senior Mary Ashby was eighth with a time of 55.54.

Columbia ended the night by earning valuable points in the 200 medley relay, taking second and third place in the event. The Lions' 'A' team of Samson, Antiles, Wang and Zhu carded a 1:42.34 for the runner-up result, while Ashby, Wojdylo, first-year Cleo Lim and first-year Clare Larsen went 1:43.70 for third.

Saturday marks the final day of the Rutgers Invitational, with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving and the 400 free relay on the schedule.
