Columbia continues it's five-meet road stretch Saturday in New Haven
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's swimming and diving program looks to bounce back Saturday, traveling to Yale for its second Ivy League dual meet of the season. Diving is set to begin at 12:45 p.m. ET, with swimming events to follow.
The Lions opened the 2018-19 season last weekend, swimming back-to-back meets at Army and Penn. In West Point, Columbia picked up a 160-140 victory, but faltered the next day, dropping a 172-128 decision to the Quakers.
Standouts for the Lions in the opening weekend included sophomore diver Jonathan Suckow and junior Nian-Guo Liu. Suckow posted four wins on the season opening weekend, resetting pool records with each performance. Liu recorded a trio of individual triumphs, winning the 200-yard freestyle at both and touching the wall first in the 100 free at Penn.
SCOUTING YALE
Yale opened its season on Nov. 3, earning a 189-88 road victory over MIT. The Bulldogs have yet to face an Ivy League opponent this season.
The Bulldogs finished third at the 2018 Ivy League Championships a season ago after posting a 7-2 record in dual meets. Notably, Yale returns NCAA qualifier Adrian Lin, who finished in the top 50 of both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events.
Last season, Columbia earned a 164-136 triumph over Yale on Nov. 11 at Uris Natatorium. The Lions have not earned a victory in New Haven since 2010, where they downed the Bulldogs, 177-122.
ON DECK
Columbia hits the road again next weekend, heading to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to face defending Ivy League champion Harvard on Friday, Nov. 16. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m.
