Columbia Takes On Princeton Saturday in Home Opener

The Lions will compete at the Percy Uris Natatorium for the first time this season Saturday
NEW YORK — After five straight road meets to open the 2018-19 season, the Columbia men's swimming and diving program will finally compete at home Saturday, Dec. 8, facing off against the Princeton Tigers at 1 p.m. ET inside Percy Uris Natatorium.
Both teams are fresh off a three-day meet, having competed alongside each other at Bruno's Brown Invite just last weekend. Princeton won the championship-format meet with a score of 1,010, while the Lions finished second with a team total of 902.
Columbia won 11 events in the meet overall, including taking four-of-five relay titles. Sophomore Albert Gwo won the 50-yard freestyle (19.77), senior Shane Brett won the 400 IM (3:50.57), junior Nian-Guo Liu won the 200 free (1:35.99) and the 100 free (43.81), junior Cole Stevens won the 100 back (47.96), senior Brian Tsau won the 1,650 free (15:41.23) and first-year David Wang won the 200 breaststroke (2:01.27). The Lions' divers did not attend the meet.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
The Tigers enter Saturday's contest with a 5-0 overall dual meet record, including a 3-0 mark in Ivy League competition.
Last season, Princeton claimed the dual meet victory over Columbia, 172-128. However, the home team has won each of the last seven meetings between the two programs.
ON DECK
Breaking for finals and the holiday season, the Lions will return to action Sunday, Jan. 13, when they travel to face Cornell in Ithaca, New York.
