NEW YORK – Two first half goals sent the Hofstra women's soccer team over Columbia, 2-0, tonight at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
The Pride netted scores from Monique Iannella on a penalty kick in the 12th minute, and Jordan Littleboy on a re-directed shot in the 31st minute to pick up its fifth victory of the season. Jenn Buoncore picked up the assist on the Littleboy
Columbia had two looks at goal in the contest, with one from
Emma Anderson in the opening minutes of the first half, and the other by
Maddie Temares in the beginning moments of the second half. Temares led the team with three shots during the game, while
Kayla Lee had a pair of attempts in the loss.Â
Despite the two goals allowed,
Sophie Whitehouse was did save a shot in the 66th minute of action.
The Lions are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 16 with a 1:00 p.m. meeting at No. 10 Georgetown.
