Eight Lions to Compete at ITA Northeast Regionals

Columbia will be represented this weekend in West Point with six singles players and three doubles teams.
Columbia's selected competitors include six Main Draw singles players including sophomore Akanksha Bhan, junior Jennifer Kerr, junior Christie Wan, sophomore Melissa Sakar, first-year Shivani Amineni, and first-year Michelle Xu. In Main Draw doubles, Columbia will be represented by three teams: Bhan and junior Paulina Ferrari, Wan and Sakar, along with Xu and first-year Julia Haynes.
In Main Draw Singles, Bhan is a 5-8 seed, Kerr and Wan are 9-16 seeds, and Sakar and Amineni are 17-32 seeds. In Main Draw Doubles, Bhan and Ferrari are a top 3-4 seed.
Competition at Army's Malek Tennis Center begins on Thursday.

Thursday 10/17 – Qualifying Singles (2 rounds to Qualify)
10 a.m. start on the indoor courts at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center
Mandatory Coaches meeting, 7 p.m.
Friday 10/18 – 2 Doubles, 1 Singles (round of 128, so all seeds get byes)
In order to get all the matches completed in a timely manner, the bottom half of the singles draw and bottom half of the doubles draw will play outdoors and the top half the singles and top half of the doubles draw will be indoors at the Lichtenberg Tennis center.
9 a.m. start (doubles first)
Saturday 10/19 – 2 Singles (round of 64 and 32)
The bottom half of singles will play indoors at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center and the top half of the singles draw will play outdoors at the Malek Courts.
9 a.m. start
Sunday 10/20 – 2 Doubles, 1 Singles
All doubles and singles matches will be played outside.
10 a.m. start (singles first) Round of 16 and round of 16 and quarters of doubles
Monday 10/21 – 1 or 2 Doubles, 1 Singles
10 a.m. start (singles first) quarters of singles and semifinals of doubles (note we can play the doubles final this day if both teams agree)
All matches will be played outside. 10 a.m. (singles first)
Tuesday 10/22 – 1 Doubles, 2 Singles
10 a.m. start (singles first, or at the same time) semis and finals of singles and finals of doubles
All matches will be played outside.
