Lions Head To Metro Season Opener And TCNJ Winter Open To Get 2019 Started

Columbia Track & Field will split the squad on the opening weekend of 2019, but will stay within the NYC limits.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y./NEW YORK – The 2019 Indoor Track & Field season finally gets rolling for Columbia Track & Field on a busy weekend within the New York City limits, as the Lions will open their 2019 campaign with a visit to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York for the Metro Season Opener on Friday, Dec. 6 (3 p.m.), while another collection of Lions will head to familiar territory as on Saturday, Dec. 7, they head to The Armory to take part in the TCNJ Winter Open (6 p.m.) for a full opening weekend of action.
This will be the fifth straight season the Columbia opens the indoor season with a visit to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex to take part in the Metro Season Opener. As for the TCNJ Winter Open, which was a late addition to the schedule, this is the first time Columbia will take part in the event, but the third straight season that TCNJ has hosted a season opening meet at The Armory.

SPLIT LIONS: Columbia, in its opening weekend of the 2019 indoor season, will split the squad up, sending a large collection of runners to Staten Island, while focusing primarily on jumps at the TCNJ Winter Open. The Lions, who do not compete again until, Jan. 12, when they head back to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Great Dane Classic, will look to use this weekend as a chance to get as many Lions as possible a competition under their belt before the winter break.
