Columbia Jumpers Have Solid Day At TCNJ Winter Open

Columbia Track & Field won three events and racked up 13 top five finishes.
NEW YORK – Powered by sophomore Kali Hatcher's first place mark of 12.60m in the triple jump and first years Nate Gramentine's winning mark of 2.03m and Anna Jordahl-Henry's first place clinching mark of 1.69m in the high jump, Columbia Track & Field had a solid Saturday night in the jump events at the TCNJ Winter Open, on Dec. 7 at The Armory.
On the track, Columbia got a pair of top five finishes on the women's side with junior Madelyn Sessler finishing second in the 60-Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.97 and first-year Anna Jordahl-Henry clocking a fifth-place time of 7.91 in the 60-Meter Dash. When considering both the track and field competitions, Columbia collected 13 top five finishes across seven events.
HOW THE WOMEN/MEN FINISHED (FIELD EVENTS): Hatcher's mark of 12.60m was nearly 0.60 meters better than the second-place mark of 12.07m in a dominating performance in Hatcher's first competition of the 2019-20 season. Joining Hatcher inside the top five was first-year Tiffany Bautista, who cleared a mark of 11.73m in her first collegiate competition to finish fifth.
Bautista followed up her fifth-place finish with a second-place finish in the long jump, as she cleared 5.54m to give the versatile first year a pair of top five finishes in two different events.
In the high jump the Lions controlled the podium on both the men's and women's side with first years Gramentine and A. Jordahl-Henry taking the events, but they were not alone with the Lions taking the top three spots on the women's side and fourth on the men's side. For the women, junior Grace Campbell clearing 1.69m to finish second and first-year Julia Jordahl-Henry recording a mark of 1.66m to lock up third place to give the Lions the top three spots in the women's high jump. On the men's side, Gramentine was joined by sophomore Luke Ciarelli's fourth place mark of 1.91m giving Columbia a pair of top five finishes.
The Lion men also turned in a solid performance in the pole vault finishing second, third and fourth, as sophomore Tiber Seireeni cleared 4.55m to give the Lions their best performance in the event. First-year Will O'Brien finished third, clearing J4.55m in his first collegiate event and junior Ben Poth recorded a fourth-place mark of 4.40m to wrap up a strong pole vault performance by Columbia.
