The three-day NCAA qualifying meet will run from March 10-13 at Navy's Lejune Hall
NEW YORK — Three Columbia divers will travel to Annapolis, Maryland, this week to compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. The three-day event, which serves as the qualifying meet for the NCAA Championships, will run March 11-13 at Navy's Lejune Hall.
Sophomore diver Jonathan Suckow, who swept the springboard events at the Ivy League Championships, will represent the Columbia men's team on both 1-meter and 3-meter. First-years Michelle Lee and Briget Rosendahl will compete for the women's squad on 3-meter and platform.
The top 18 scorers from each opening round will advance to the finals, with the scores carrying over. The number of automatic qualifiers varies for each event/gender, and can be seen below. Additionally, if an individual qualifies in one event and finishes in the top-12 of another, he/she will be permitted to compete in the additional event at the NCAA Championships.
To qualify for the Zone Championships, divers must have recorded zone qualifying scores throughout the season. Divers in Zone A come from all Division I institutions throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Both the men's and women's NCAA Championships will be held in Austin, Texas this season, with the women's meet running from March 20-23, and the men's March 27-30.
