Alexis Florio Finishes Sixth, Columbia Fourth at Wofford Low Country Intercollegiate

Florio places sixth with a four-over-par 75-73-148 to lead the Lions to a fourth place finish out of 16 teams during 36-hole Wofford Low Country Intercollegiate.
HILTON HEAD, S.C.—First-year Alexis Florio finished in sixth place at four-over-par 75-73-148 and the Columbia women's golf team placed fourth to conclude the two-round, 36-hole Wofford Low Country Intercollegiate Sunday at Moss Creek Golf Club. Florio moved up four spots in the standings as she carded four birdies en route to a 73 in Sunday's final round. On Saturday, she finished with three birdies, including two on the back nine to register her 75. She finished just four strokes behind individual champion Yudika Rodriguez of Bethune Cookman, who shot Even at 70-74-144.
Columbia shot a 34-over-par 307-303-610 to finish in fourth out of 16 teams in the field. Navy won the team competition with a 24-over-par 303-297-600, followed by Bethune Cookman at 28-over-par 298-306-604 and Limestone at 30-over-par 311-295-606 and Columbia.
Senior Amy Ding was next for Columbia, who moved up in the standings to 12th place with an eight-over-par 77-75-152. On Sunday, she fired two birdies. Junior Emily Chu concluded the weekend in 17th place at nine-over-par 76-77-153.
Also scoring for Columbia were first-year Jennifer Wang, who placed 28th at 13-over-par 79-78-157, sophomore Katie Lee, who moved up to 46th place at 18-over-par 84-78-162 and sophomore Qingyi Symba Xu, who finished in 57th place at 21-over-par 77-88-165. First-year Marlene Tartaro ended the weekend in 79th place at 28-over-par 86-86-172.
Seven of Columbia's eight golfers are competing this weekend. Counting on Columbia's score is Wang, Ding, Florio, Lee, and Chu. Competing as individuals are Tartaro and Xu.
Sixteen teams competed in the field including Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Brown, The Citadel, Columbia, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Radford, Lander, Limestone, Navy, Presbyterian College, South Carolina Beaufort, USC Upstate, Winthrop and host Wofford.
The Moss Creek Golf Club is a par-72, 5,836-yard course.
Columbia is back in action when it competes in Match Madness at Princeton on April 6-7. The Lions are co-hosting the event with Princeton at the Springdale Golf Club.
