BRANCHBURG, N.J.—The Columbia women's golf team captured the consolation title and finished 2-1 at the second annual Match Madness event Sunday at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, N.J. The Lions lost 5-1 to No. 4 seed Penn in Saturday's first round, defeated Wagner 5-1 in Saturday's second round, then defeated Brown 5-1 in the consolation final.
Junior Emily Chu finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record. She was the only Lion to register a perfect record. Finishing with a clean 2-1 record on the weekend were first-year Marlene Tartaro and sophomore Katie Lee.
No. 1 seed Delaware defeated No. 2 seed Princeton 4.5-1.5 for the Match Madness team title.
Co-hosted by Princeton and Columbia, eight teams competed in the two-day event including No. 1 seed Delaware, No. 2 seed Princeton, No. 3 seed Harvard, No. 4 seed Penn, No. 5 seed Columbia, No. 6 seed Brown, No. 7 seed Dartmouth and No. 8 seed Wagner. In match-play format each team played three head-to-head matches in an elimination tournament with consolation bracket.
