Lions Claim Three Weekend Track and Field Titles

Columbia competes at two events: Ocean State Invitational and UConn Northeast Challenge; Jack Pihlkar wins UConn Northeast Challenge men’s hammer throw competition, Brian Zabilski captures the Ocean State one mile run competition, and Jackson Storey claims Ocean State men’s 800-meter run title.
PROVIDENCE, R.I./STORRS, Conn.—Columbia men's and women's track and field athletes competed at two different events this weekend: the Ocean State Invitational in Providence, R.I. and the UConn Northeast Challenge in Storrs, Conn.
Three Lions won titles at their respective events. Jack Pihlkar won the UConn Northeast Challenge men's hammer throw competition with a 60.68m/199-1 heave, Brian Zabilski captured the Ocean State one mile run competition (4:05.51) and Jackson Storey claimed the Ocean State men's 800-meter run title with a 1:50.67 time.
Earning second place finishes were Katie Wasserman in the women's one mile run (4:43.52), Terri Turner in the women's 800-meter run (2:08.77), and Hunter Hasley in the men's discus throw (49.25m/161-7). Other highlights came from Solomon Rice, who finished third in the Ocean State 800-meter run (1:51.04), Josiah Langstaff, who placed third in the Ocean State 400-meter dash (50.39), Alli Hays, who placed fourth in the one mile run (4:51.68), Robert O'Brien placed fourth in the men's pole vault (4.77m/15-7), and Lucky Schreiner, who took fourth place in the men's one mile run (4:07.39).
