Women's Golf Finishes 1-1 at Match Madness

Lions to tee off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. for Match Madness consolation title against Brown.
BRANCHBURG, N.J.—The Columbia women's golf team will play for the consolation title after finishing day one at the second annual Match Madness event with one loss and one win Saturday at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, N.J. Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday, Columbia will go head-to-head against Brown for the consolation title. In the first round, No. 5 seed Columbia dropped a 5-1 match to No. 4 seed Penn. The Lions rebounded with a 5-1 victory over No. 8 seed Wagner.
Junior Emily Chu won both of her individual matchups in each of Columbia's two Saturday matches. Against Wagner, first-year Marlene Tartaro, sophomore Katie Lee, junior Emily Chu, first-year Jennifer Wang and first-year Alexis Florio all won matches.
No. 2 seed Princeton will meet No. 1 seed Delawere for the championship.
Eight teams are competing in the event including No. 1 seed Delaware, No. 2 seed Princeton, No. 3 seed Harvard, No. 4 seed Penn, No. 5 seed Columbia, No. 6 seed Brown, No. 7 seed Dartmouth and No. 8 seed Wagner. Each team is playing three head-to-head matches in a double elimination tournament. Six players from each team are competing in head-to-head match-play rounds for each team. Should the schools split those matches, the number of holes won will determine the winning team.

It is the second year that Columbia and Princeton will host Match Madness as four teams competed in 2018. Princeton won the inaugural event as it defeated Columbia, Penn and Seton Hall last year.
Fox Hollow Golf Club is a 5,827-yard course with a par-70.
Match Madness is the final competition for Columbia before the Lions will play for the 2019 Ivy League Championship, April 19-21 at the Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, N.J.
